Eurovision Birds & Eggs in Liverpool 2023

As part of Liverpool’s Easter celebrations in the run up to hosting Eurovision 2023 on behalf of war-torn Ukraine, seven giant eggs, known as Pysanka Eggs, inspired by the Ukrainian and Eastern European tradition of egg painting were on display in the city’s Liverpool One. There was an egg to represent each borough of Liverpool City Region - Liverpool, Knowsley, Halton, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral - plus an additional egg to represent Ukraine, and were designed by local schoolchildren and the Ukrainian community. As well as the Eggs, there was also 12 large scale, light-up nightingales, known as Soloveiko Songbirds, located around the city with each songbird designed with unique plumage to represent different regions of Ukraine. And there were some other interesting sculptures dotted around which were also part of the Eurovision celebrations.
